City of Greater Geelong Offices
An amalgamation of seven offices into one central workplace, the City of Greater Geelong’s new civic precinct ‘Wurriki Nyal’ sets a national benchmark for sustainable civic design. Designed by Cox Architecture and delivered by BESIX Watpac, the building is one of Australia’s largest cross-laminated timber (CLT) structures. Burgtec was appointed as the primary workstations and furniture partner, helping to create a collaborative, people-focused environment for more than 700 staff. Every product was selected and manufactured to complement the project’s sustainability goals and high-performance standards.

A landmark workplace for a progressive council

The City of Greater Geelong sought a workspace that supported collaboration, flexibility and long-term environmental responsibility. To support this vision, Burgtec supplied all workstations and a portion of the loose furniture, representing around 60 per cent of the project’s overall fitout. The scope included most of the visible and frequently-used areas with custom wraparound upholstered screens, sit-to-stand electric workstations powered by LINAK actuators, and a range of seating, tables and storage solutions. Each product was tailored to meet the architect’s design intent while maintaining the durability and comfort needed for an active, hybrid workplace.
