Liverpool Civic Place.
Shaping a new government and community precinct.
Liverpool Civic Place
Liverpool Civic Place is a transformative $600 million development that is revitalising the heart of South-West Sydney. Designed by GroupGSA and FJMT, the mixed-use precinct brings together civic offices, council chambers, a library, community hub and childcare centre. Burgtec’s involvement began with the new city library, which was the first stage of the project. Here, a highly durable, design-led furniture solution set the benchmark for quality across the precinct. Following the library’s success, Burgtec was appointed to deliver the complete workstation and furniture package for the council’s new offices spanning four floors.

From public spaces to civic workplaces

The project included open-plan workspaces, executive and Mayor’s offices, meeting rooms, collaboration zones and breakout areas, as well as the ground-floor library and community hub. Burgtec supplied and installed all workstations, bespoke collaboration desks and loose furniture, providing a cohesive experience from public to professional spaces. Working closely with the client and builder, Burgtec developed tailored workstation systems and public furniture designed for performance, adaptability and long-term use. The transition from library to office environments demonstrated Burgtec’s capability across both civic and community settings, ensuring consistency in quality, finish and function throughout the precinct.

Collaboration for a complex precinct

Burgtec partnered with Built, GroupGSA and Liverpool City Council to coordinate installation sequencing, manage multi-stakeholder approvals and ensure seamless communication across all project stages. The program required precise planning within a live construction environment, where multiple tenancies were being delivered concurrently. Burgtec’s local manufacturing base and experienced Sydney installation team enabled rapid adaptation to design adjustments, ensuring every item met specification and schedule. Close collaboration and transparent documentation helped maintain aesthetic and functional consistency across the precinct, from the public-facing library to the upper office floors and even the refined details of the council chambers.

Durability and design integrity

The library phase required furniture suitable for high public use: robust, easy to clean and built to last. This performance-driven approach carried through to the council offices, where Burgtec’s solutions balanced longevity, comfort and civic character. All products were locally manufactured with long warranties, supporting sustainability goals through reduced transport emissions and extended lifecycle value. Burgtec’s involvement across both stages of the project exemplified its capacity to deliver value beyond a single fitout, providing consistency, quality assurance and enduring functionality for one of metropolitan Sydney’s largest and most progressive councils.
